Someone who is vegan does not eat meat or use any animal product. Over the last decade, veganism has exploded on the scene with more people making a conscious effort to convert to the vegan lifestyle. This includes celebrities. Here are 7 celebrities you may not have known were vegan:
Ariana told the Twitterverse back in 2013 that she was committing to the vegan lifestyle. Then she spoke to Mirror magazine about why she made that choice:
“I love animals more than I love most people, not kidding. But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-around happier person. It is tricky dining out, but I just stick to what I know — veggies, fruit and salad — then when I get home I’ll have something else.”
Miley decided to go vegan back in 2013 following the death of her dog Floyd. However, it wasn’t until around 2014 she decided to be more vocal about her vegan lifestyle. She chose to become vocal because she wanted to be held accountable and set an example for other.
Sia confirmed on Twitter back in 2014 that she was going full vegan. Since fully coming out as vegan, she’s been an advocate, teaming with PETA and tweeting about the vegan lifestyle.
Peter Dinklage, star of Game of Thrones, has been vegan for over a decade. He has fronted campaigns for Farm Sanctuary, PETA, and is the ambassador for Cruelty Free International. He has even been known for refusing to eat meat during filming. Peter said in an interview once:
“I like animals, all animals. I wouldn’t hurt a cat or a dog – or a chicken or a cow. And I wouldn’t ask someone else to hurt them for me.”
Liam has been vegan since 2015 and even convinced his brother Chris to try a plant based diet. When asked why he chose the vegan lifestyle, he said:
“My own health, and after all the information I gathered about the mistreatment of animals, I couldn’t continue to eat meat. The more I was aware of, the harder and harder it was to do.”
