Are you a foodie? Do you know almost every food out there? Well here is a list of foods you’ve never heard of, or so we’re guessing! We pulled different dishes from all over to make this list of unique foods that are not well known to most people. How many of these have you heard of?

1. Loco Moco

Loco Moco is a meal in the contemporary cuisine of Hawaii. Traditionally it is white rice topped with a hamburger patty, fried egg, and brown gravy. However there are many different variations to this dish. Some variations include chili, bacon, ham, spam, kalua pork, and many other proteins.

 

2. Funeral Potatoes

Funeral potatoes can traditionally be found in Utah. It’s a dish consisting of hash browns or cubed potatoes, cheese, onions, cream soup, sour cream, topped with butter and crushed potato chips. They’re typically served as a side dish at a funeral, hence the name.

 

3. Shoofly Pie

Shoofly pie is a molasses crumb cake baked in a pie crust. It was developed by the Pennsylvania Dutch in the 1880s. The additional pie crust makes it easier to eat by hand. It was traditionally served with a strong black coffee for breakfast.

 

4. Khachapuri

Khachapuri is a traditional Georgian cuisine dish. In simple terms, it is cheese filled bread. Usually the filling contains cheese, egg, and other ingredients. The idea is to rip the bread off and dip it in the cheese filling.

 

5. Chislic

Chislic is the official state food of South Dakota, so if you’re from South Dakota you’ve definitely heard of this before. It’s pretty much just cubed red meat on a stick with peppers, tomatoes, and onions.
