Restaurant Review: Raymond’s (New Jersey)

This review takes us to Raymond’s, located in both Montclair and Ridgewood New Jersey. Whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks Raymond’s is the place to be. If you find yourself in the Jersey area, it’s worth stopping in.

Raymond’s has been around since 1989, when Raymond Badach decided to open up a small lunch spot on Church Street. As time went on, he slowly grew his operation, adding a cappuccino machine, bringing on new team members, and continued to do this until opening a second location.

If you like breakfast, then you will love Raymond’s. They’d even tell you themselves they’re known for their French toast, pancakes and omelettes. We stopped in and had to try the avocado toast. Avocado, poached eggs, tomatoes and jalapeno salsa – a perfect blend of carbs, eggs, and spice!

Moving on to the next meal of the day, let’s talk about LUNCH! If you’re not a fan of lunch, the good news is Raymond’s serves all day breakfast so get your pancake on no matter the hour. However, if you’re like us, we love a good sandwich at the lunch hour. Try a BLT or Turkey Club if you’re feeling traditional but if you want to get adventurous, go with the Meatloaf Sandwich, with balsamic onions, mozzarella, and horseradish cream on some marble rye.

The dinner options are eclectic and there is surely something for everyone. Whether you’re feeling ambitious enough to tackle the Roasted Half Chicken or looking for some Shrimp Scampi, all the dishes leave you satisfied. They also have some unique appetizers such as Squash Rings; fried butternut squash with cinnamon and jalapeno honey. Not a fan of squash? Dive into the Rhode Island Calamari with pickled cherry peppers, lemon wheels, and lemon caper aioli.

And let me leave with what Raymond’s advertises itself as; “At Raymond’s you can always catch up on the local gossip, hang-out at the counter with a newspaper, or meet some new friends—especially if you’re the new kid in town.”
